Kathikas

Paphos, Kathikas

Kathikas is a lovely pretty village built mainly of stone and located between Paphos and Latchi.  The village is located on a plateau 23 kilometers north of Paphos with an altitude of 645m. Being a traditional Cypriot village it has a flourishing agrotourism industry. It has wonderful rustic tavernas that offer the freshest of local produce. This village also has wineries where you can spend time sampling the Cypriot wines of the village picked from family’s vineyards. An extremely quiet location which is perfect for property buyers that want the peace and tranquillity. The village has a long history of merchants travelling between Paphos & Polis and using Kathikas as a resting place. Recent archaeological studies support the theory that the King of Paphos used Kathikas as his resting and holiday place. Travelling to Paphos you first reach Coral Bay which is a popular and busy resort within the Paphos district and has plenty to offer with regards to amenities and activities. In the centre you will find several banks, supermarkets, pharmacies, laundry and souvenir shops plus an array of restaurants and bars with all international cuisine including traditional Cypriot dishes. Activities include mini golf and go karting for the more active, Paphos Zoo, horse riding and water sports. The resort of Coral Bay has two sandy beaches, the busiest being Coral Bay Beach a sandy horseshoe shaped bay boasting the Blue Flag of the European Union and the quieter being Corallia Bay. In the other direction you reach Polis & Latchi which is a small town with a stunning pedestrianised square where locals and visitors alike gather to enjoy a drink or three course meals at one of the various selections of restaurants, tavernas and cafes which radiate out from the centre. The town offers an archaeological museum and cultural centre. Latchi is a seaside resort with its recently opened 200 berth marina. Here you will find an abundance of harbour front tavernas that offer an amazing selection of fresh fish and seafood served daily. Within the harbour you can enjoy boat excursions available. Further on from Latchi is the well known 'Baths of Aphrodite' and for nature lovers the protected Akamas Peninsular an area particular suited to walkers and ramblers who will enjoy the many nature trails.
